Read this before buying a console version
Three things the official FAQ makes clear that headlines tend to blur:
- It is Switch 2, not Switch. The announcement names "Nintendo Switch 2" specifically. Nothing has been said about the original Switch, and last-gen consoles are absent from every official statement.
- "2027" has no month in it. No quarter, no season. When a store page or article prints a specific console date, it is a placeholder, not a fact.
- Cross-play is confirmed, generally. Asked "Will there be cross-play?", the official FAQ answers "Yes." Read together with the 2027 console timeline, that points to PC and console players eventually driving together, but the developers have not spelled out which platform pairs are included.
System requirements (PC)
The published minimum is mid-range 2017 hardware: a Core i5-7400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1070 or Vega-56 on Windows 10, with 4 GB of storage and DirectX 11, tested at FullHD. There is no recommended tier yet. The line-by-line breakdown, why the GTX 1070 floor is higher than the art style suggests, and the Steam Deck via Proton commitment all live on the system requirements page.
Controllers, wheels and cloud
Full controller support is in, with gamepad explicitly recommended (DualSense and DualShock are listed on the store page). Steering wheels with force feedback are not planned for the initial release; keyboard and gamepad come first. A GeForce Now thread exists on the Steam forums with an official answer marked solved; we have not verified its content yet and will update this page when we do.
